BenQ S65

Today’s business world is fast-moving, demanding and leaves no room for compromises. The S65 is a mobile phone that meets the expectations of modern business people. Its appealing design and complete set of business features put this mobile into a class of its own.

Bluetooth® wireless technology standard lets you transfer data over-the-air and for free. Premium still imaging and video recording with zoom function on the go. A comprehensive organizer and numerous 3rd party applications as well as high-speed email up- and downloading are only some of the S65’s many business applications. A reduced size multi-media card slot and the built-in 32MB expandable memory give enough room for files and data.

The user interface of the S65 can be modified with themes, but one thing stays the same – the main menu. Two main colours are used here, grey and gold. The icon that isn’t selected is smaller than that selected, and is grey – when selected the icon enlarges and becomes gold. I think this looks really bad and just tacky, and the icons aren’t very user-friendly either. Changing the themes on the handset doesn’t change any icons on the S65, just the background and colour scheme. The same grey and gold icons are still there in every theme, and if you’re not using the standard theme it looks even worse. There are four extra themes and the standard (black) theme preinstalled on the handset

The S65 comes with a TFT 65k colour screen which provides a 132 x 176 pixels display. The phone comes with a integrated 1.3 megapixel camera (1280 x 960 pixels) with zoom which is very user friendly. The user can enjoy the video camera feature which records to a MPEG4 format and allows the user to capture their special moments in full colour action. The video feature comes with a video playback feature and the user can send their recording to friend and family via the multimedia messaging service. The phone comes with 11 Mbytes of shared memory and with the option to expand the memory with a 32 Mbytes MultiMediaCardâ„¢ which can be easily added via the memory slot.

Panasonic RP-HTX7

Tightness is not a problem with these phones because of the vinyl-wrapped metal headband. This is great because it’s impossible to overextend them–you just bend them back into shape with no trouble.  The Sheckler Signature model of these phones is the least expensive by at least 20 dollars when I bought it (maybe his sponsorship [...]

Sony DR-BT30Q
15 Mar 2010

A great idea or just another pointless use of wireless technology? I?ve spent a few months using the Sony DR-BT30Q stereo Bluetooth headphones, and thought it might be useful for some people for me to post my thoughts on this desirable gadget and my views on the technology behind it. A2DP, more commonly known as Bluetooth [...]

Sanyo Xacti VPC-CA6
15 Mar 2010

The VPC-CA6 is a an extremely small SD-card based video and still camera; our product review sample came in a box that proclaimed it was the “blue” variant (with a “red” and “silver” variant also available), but that’s a strange definer of the camera, as it’s actually only the bezel around the foldout LCD that [...]

Hitachi DZ-HS301
14 Mar 2010

The Hitachi DZ-H303 already was announced in Japan a month ago. It looks like Hitachi is bringing the DZ-HS301 also to Europe soon and eventually to the United States. The Hitachi DZ-HS301 features a 15x optical zoom, 1MP still photos and a 2.7 widescreen LCD. The Hitachi DZ-HS303 sports a better CCD sensor and takes [...]

Canon ZR700
14 Mar 2010

The Canon ZR700 tops off the ZR series this year, which has undergone serious cosmetic changes, including a new joystick control. How does the ZR700 hope to distinguish itself? The differences from next step-down, the ZR600, are small but crucial, including the analog inputs. Combine this with a 30x optical zoom and solid low light [...]
